Competitor ad research in Claude, from the Meta Ad Library
Your competitors' running Facebook and Instagram ads, grouped by offer, with each landing page's price and what the offer's keywords cost per click.
Can Claude search the Meta Ad Library? Yes, once superagnt is connected: this skill reads the ads a competitor runs there, then the landing pages and keyword costs behind them. It only reads. It never creates, edits or runs ads, and never connects an ad account.
»One run on superagnt's staging server, Nov 4, 2026: HelloFresh, Hungryroot and Marley Spoon, ads shown in the US. Claude Code with this skill; five of its 93 calls and every number are below.
Active Facebook and Instagram ads, US, one run
each competitor's ads from the meta ad library · its top offer · the landing page price · what the offer's keyword costs per click on google
- HelloFresh300 ads, cappedmedian 13 days running · top offer 10 free meals + free breakfast for life · landing page no price shown · “hellofresh free breakfast for life” $8.68 a click
- Hungryroot300 ads, cappedmedian 60 days running · top offer 40% off first order · landing page no price shown · “hungryroot 40 off” $9.35 a click
- Marley Spoon15 adsmedian 7 days running · top offer up to 40% off · landing page $8.09 a serving · “marley spoon promo code” $14.50 a click
days running is a heuristic, not proof an ad works · cost per click is the keyword's google average, not a competitor's spend
Your competitors' ads show which offers they pay to push. This agent pulls the ads they run from the Meta Ad Library, groups them by offer, angle and format, reads each landing page for its offer and price, and prices the offer's keywords. One report, every row kept in your workspace database, and it never touches an ad account.
One paste into your agent.
Your first ad report, minutes later.
Install superagnt's Competitor Ad Research skill for me. It's the competitor-ad-research plugin from the github.com/superagnt/plugins marketplace, plus the superagnt MCP server (on Claude it's a connector I add in my browser; elsewhere I sign in through my browser). Three meal-kit brands' ads in one report, Nov 4, 2026
Claude Code (Opus 5.5) with this skill and a superagnt test workspace, given the prompt below. It found each brand's advertiser Page, paged through its active US ads, sorted all 615 (2,337 counting versions) by offer, angle and format, read the landing page behind each top offer and priced 20 keywords in one lookup. 93 calls, 57.72 credits ($0.58), 9 min 38 s of tool time and 22 min end to end. Five of the calls are below.

HelloFresh and Hungryroot each hit the skill's cap of 30 calls with more ads still listed, so their numbers describe the 300 ads it fetched for each. Marley Spoon's 15 are its whole list. The table below is the report's first part, read from the rows the run wrote.
| Brand | Ads listed | Counting versions | Formats | Top offers (ads) | No offer | Top angles (ads) | Median / longest days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HelloFresh | 300 (capped at 30 calls; Meta listed more) | 306 | 287 dynamic, 9 video, 4 catalog | 10 free meals + free breakfast for life (188); 10 free meals (47); free STAUB baking dish + 10 free meals (29) | 32 | saves time (118); creator video (63); taste or variety (54) | 13 / 14 |
| Hungryroot | 300 (capped at 30 calls; Meta listed more) | 2,016 | 72 dynamic, 78 image, 150 video | 40% off first order (104); 40% off first order + free gift (30); a discount code, amount not stated (12) | 153 | creator video (150); testimonial (94); healthier (56) | 60 / 353 |
| Marley Spoon | 15 | 15 | 12 dynamic, 3 video | up to 40% off (9); from $5.99 per meal (2); 4 more offers, 1 ad each | 0 | product feature (9); healthier (2); creator video (2) | 7 / 16 |
Active ads shown in the US, Nov 4, 2026. Counting versions counts every ad that shares a listing's creative and text. Days running is the run date minus the day the ad started.
Three ways to run Meta ads, side by side. HelloFresh rotates: 287 of its 300 ads are dynamic creative, and none of them started more than 14 days before the run. Hungryroot lets ads run: a median of 60 days, half of its listings are creators' videos, and its five longest-running ads, 353 days each, are image ads that all carry the same customer review. Marley Spoon runs 15 ads, most of them selling "up to 40% off". A long run is a common heuristic for an ad that works, not proof: the Ad Library shows no spend or results for these ads.
»The run's calls and the rows it wrote, checked against a second count of the raw results. Credits are the workspace balance before the run minus after, and match its usage log to the hundredth: 65 ad library calls at 0.84 credits each, 4 page reads at 0.144 and one keyword lookup for 20 keywords at 2.55. Production lists the same 0.84 and 0.144.
Each offer, joined to its landing page and its keyword costs
The Ad Library shows each ad and its link. It doesn't show what the page behind the link sells or charges, or what the offer costs to buy on search. The run joined all three for each brand's top offer:
| Brand | Top offer (ads) | On the landing page | Keyword | Searches a month | Cost per click |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HelloFresh | 10 free meals + free breakfast for life (188 ads) | "Get 10 Free Meals + Free Breakfast For Life!", no price on the page | meal kit delivery | 9,900 | $23.93 a click |
| hellofresh free breakfast for life | 480 | $8.68 a click | |||
| hellofresh 10 free meals | 140 | $6.39 a click | |||
| hellofresh | 165,000 | $5.69 a click | |||
| Hungryroot | 40% off first order (104 ads) | no deal shown on the page, no price on the page | hungryroot discount | 140 | $16.64 a click |
| healthy grocery delivery | 880 | $15.18 a click | |||
| hungryroot 40 off | 50 | $9.35 a click | |||
| hungryroot | 74,000 | $3.14 a click | |||
| Marley Spoon | up to 40% off (9 ads) | "Your promo code has been applied!": 40% off box 1, then 35%, 10%, 10% and 15%, $8.09 a serving (marked down from $13.49), $48.56 a box of 6 servings, $12.99 shipping | meal kit delivery | 9,900 | $23.93 a click |
| marley spoon promo code | 390 | $14.50 a click | |||
| marley spoon | 27,100 | $4.24 a click | |||
| marley spoon 40 off | no data | no cost data |
Cost per click is the keyword's average on Google search in the US, what an advertiser pays on average for the click: not what the brand pays on Meta, which the Ad Library doesn't show. Searches are monthly, in the US. Nov 4, 2026.
- Two of Marley Spoon's 15 ads lead with "from $5.99 per meal". The page their link opens prints $8.09 a serving for its default plan, 3 meals for 2 people, with the promo code applied.
- Hungryroot's creators promise 40% off. Neither of the two pages the run read prints that deal, or any price.
- HelloFresh's page confirms the ad's deal ("Discount successfully applied") and prints no price at all.
- Most deal searches cost far less than the category's: "hellofresh promo code" (6,600 searches a month) at $8.45 a click and "hungryroot coupon code" (1,900) at $9.52, against "meal kit delivery" (9,900) at $23.93. Not all of them: "marley spoon promo code" is $14.50, and "hungryroot discount" ($16.64) costs more than Hungryroot's category search, "healthy grocery delivery" ($15.18).
What the Ad Library shows for a US brand's ads
| What you'd want to know | Shown in the Ad Library | In this skill's report |

| The ad's creative and copy | Yes | Yes, with its offer, angle and format |
| The Page it ran from | Yes | Yes |

The first five rows follow Meta's own table for active ads that aren't about social issues, elections or politics and deliver no impression to the EU (Meta's help page, read Nov 4, 2026). The last two rows and the report column are this page's.
»The landing pages as the run read them, each on the offer's most common link; a coupon code in a link can change the deal a page shows. Keyword numbers from one lookup, the run's last data call. Meta's table from its help page, read Nov 4, 2026.

How to see a competitor's Facebook ads by hand
The Meta Ad Library is free and public: anyone can search it, with no ad account. Meta's help page says it "contains all active ads that are shown across Meta technologies" (read Nov 4, 2026). By hand, for each competitor:
- Open facebook.com/ads/library, pick the country the ads run in and the ad category, All ads.
- Type the brand's name and pick its Page from the list rather than the keyword search: brands run one Page per country. Or open the brand's Facebook Page, find Page transparency and click See All.
- Narrow it with the filters: active ads only, a platform such as Facebook, Instagram or Threads, a media type or a date range.
- Open each ad's details: the creative and copy, the day it started running, where it ran, and how many ads use the same creative and text.
- Click through to the landing page, note the offer and the price, and copy all of it into a spreadsheet. Repeat it next week: Meta keeps no record of a US brand's ad once it stops.
Other platforms keep their own libraries: Google's Ads Transparency Center for search, display and YouTube ads, Microsoft's Advertising Ad Library for Bing, LinkedIn's Ad Library, TikTok's Commercial Content Library and Reddit's Ads Inspiration Library. This skill reads Meta's.
What Meta's Ad Library API covers for a US advertiser
Meta's own Ad Library API page (read Nov 4, 2026) says the API searches the Ad Library for two kinds of ads:
- "Ads about social issues, elections or politics that were delivered anywhere in the world during the past 7 years".
- "Ads of any type that were delivered to the United Kingdom (UK) or European Union during the past year".
Its developer reference says it from the other side: "Ads that did not reach any location in the EU will only return if they are about social issues, elections or politics." So a brand whose ordinary ads run only in the US gets none of them back from Meta's API. For those, Meta's page points to the website: "To search for all ads currently running across Meta technologies, please use the Ad Library."
Getting access takes three steps on Meta's page: confirm your identity and location at Facebook.com/ID ("It can take a few days"), create a Meta for Developers account, then create an app. The reference's ads_archive endpoint takes search_terms, ad_reached_countries (required) and ad_type, and answers error 613 when calls pass its rate limit.
superagnt's ad library tools return the active ads the Ad Library lists for any brand and country, US brands included: the run above pulled 615 of them. Claude calls them over MCP, and your own code can call the same search over superagnt's REST API with an API key:
curl "https://api.superagnt.com/v1/data/facebook/fetch_search_ads_pages?ad_page_id=320774061283785&country=US&activeStatus=ACTIVE" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUPERAGNT_API_KEY"A research skill, not an ad-account skill
A Claude skill is a SKILL.md file your AI reads when a task matches: the steps, written down once (what a skill is). Most Claude skills and MCP servers for ads work on your own ad account: they audit its performance, move budget, write ad copy or launch campaigns, and they need the account connected first, through OAuth or a developer token.
This one does the research before any of that, on your competitors' public ads: nothing to connect and nothing it can spend. It installs the same way in Claude Code, the Claude app and Codex, and the install page sets it up in ChatGPT.
How the report is made, and what it can't tell you
- Active ads only, in the country you pick: every ad Meta lists, up to 30 calls a competitor. Each full call in the run on this page returned 10 ads, so the cap stopped at 300. A list that hits it says so in the report.
- Meta lists ads that share one creative and text as one entry, with a count. The report counts both ways: ads listed, and ads counting those versions. Many versions of one creative is often read as a brand testing or scaling it, a heuristic too.
- Days running is the run date minus the day the ad started. A long run is a common heuristic for an ad that works, because advertisers switch off what loses money. It is not proof: the Ad Library shows no spend or results for a US brand's ads, and some ads stay on out of habit.
- Offers are read as each ad words them. Angles come from one fixed list of eight, so they compare across competitors and from week to week.
- Cost per click is the keyword's average on Google search in that country: what an advertiser pays on average for the click. Meta shows no costs for a competitor's ads.
- Each main offer's landing page is read once, on its most common link. A coupon code in a link can change what the page shows: HelloFresh's top offer ran on 150 links, and the one read carries 7 of its 188 ads.
- Use the report for what to test, in your own words. A copied ad tells your buyers nothing new.
Six steps to your first ad report.
- 1
Name the competitors once
Brand names and the country whose ads you want. It finds each brand's own advertiser page for that country and saves the set, so next week starts there.

- 2
Pull the ads they're running
Page by page, the active ads in that country, up to 30 calls a competitor: the copy, the headline, the call to action, the format, the link and the day it started. Ads Meta groups as versions of one creative count both ways.

- 3
Sort them by offer and angle
Each ad gets its offer as the ad words it, one angle from a fixed list, its format and how many days it has run. Long-running ads are flagged as the common heuristic they are, never as proof one works.

SKILL.md tells your agent to find each competitor's advertiser Page for the country, pull its active ads page by page (up to 30 calls each), sort them by offer, angle and format, read the landing page behind each main offer, price the offers' keywords in one lookup, keep every ad, page and keyword as rows, and write the report from those rows. Its first two headings are setup for the agent: which tools to turn on, and the tool names on newer servers.
Plain markdown your agent reads while it runs. SKILL.md is the procedure. This is the plugin exactly as it installs from github.com/superagnt/plugins: 4 files, 19 KB.
Common questions
01Can Claude search the Meta Ad Library?
Yes, once superagnt is connected: Claude then searches the Ad Library like any other tool, by brand and country, active ads only. On its own it can't: Claude Code's web fetch got "403 Forbidden" on a brand's Ad Library page on Nov 4, 2026. This skill does the search, then joins each ad's offer to its landing page and its keyword costs.
02Can Claude see competitors' ads?
Yes: the ads any brand is running on Facebook and Instagram, in the country you pick. The run on this page pulled 615 active US ads for HelloFresh, Hungryroot and Marley Spoon. It can't see their spend or results: the Ad Library shows amount spent only for ads about social issues, elections or politics, and results for none.
03What does a competitor ad report cost?
The report on this page cost 57.72 credits ($0.58): 65 ad library calls, 4 landing page reads and one keyword lookup. A new superagnt account starts with a no-card trial that includes $3 of data credits. Plans are $49, $149 or $399 a month, and Starter includes $20 of data credits. Ad spy tools bill a subscription: their cheapest paid plans start at $10 to $149 a month at their lowest listed rates, on their own pricing pages, Nov 4, 2026.
04Does this connect to my ad account?
No. It reads public data only: the Ad Library's listings, public landing pages and keyword data. It never creates, edits, pauses or runs an ad, never connects a Meta or Google ad account, and has no way to spend your budget.
05Does it work in ChatGPT and Codex?
Yes. The skill installs in Claude Code, the Claude app and Codex, and the install page sets it up in ChatGPT, which takes custom MCP servers on the web: Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces get every tool, and Pro gets read and fetch actions (OpenAI's help page, as of November 3, 2026), so on Pro it can read the ads but can't save its rows. The steps are the same everywhere: your AI calls superagnt's tools.
06Can I see how much a competitor spends on Facebook ads?
Not for most brands. Meta's Ad Library shows amount spent and impressions only for ads about social issues, elections or politics, and reach and targeting for those ads and for ads delivered in the EU or UK (Meta's help page, read Nov 4, 2026). For a US brand's ads it shows the creative, the Page, the start date and where the ad ran. The report shows how long each ad has run, a common heuristic for what works, never a spend figure.
07Is there an API for the Meta Ad Library?
Meta's Ad Library API covers ads about social issues, elections or politics from anywhere in the past 7 years, and ads of any type delivered to the UK or EU in the past year (Meta's API page, read Nov 4, 2026). A US brand's ordinary ads aren't in it. superagnt's ad library tools return the active ads the Ad Library lists for any brand and country, over MCP or its REST API.
08Why can't I find a competitor's ads?
Check the country, then the Page. Brands keep one Facebook Page per country: the advertiser search in this run found 13 HelloFresh Pages, set to 12 countries, and the skill took the US one. Marley Spoon's US ads ran from a Page with no country set. Creators' posts a brand pays for, with a paid partnership label, also sit in the Ad Library's branded content, searchable by the creator's Page or Instagram profile.
09Should I copy my competitors' best ads?
No. Use the report to find what to test: an offer your market keeps paying to push, an angle nobody runs, a search that costs less than the others. Write your own ads from that. A copy tells your buyers nothing new.
10Can it tell me when a competitor launches new ads?
Yes. Once a report has come out right, the skill offers a weekly run on a schedule: it marks the ads that started since the last run and, for a competitor whose whole list fits under the cap of 30 calls, the ones that stopped (a capped list can't tell a stopped ad from one past the cap), reads only the new landing pages, and reports the changes. Meta keeps no record of a US brand's ad once it stops, so those saved rows are the only history you'll have.
