The Airtable connection lets an agent read and write the records of the bases you grant it, up to 10 records in a call, including upserts on merge fields. It also reads and posts record comments, reads base schemas, creates bases, creates and updates tables and fields, and manages the change webhooks that report edits to a base.

Setup

  1. Start the install. In the superagnt app open Integrations, pick Airtable and click Connect with Airtable.
  2. Grant your bases. In the window Airtable opens, choose the bases the connection may reach and approve access.
  3. Call Airtable. Airtable moves to Enabled: its REST route answers and its tools appear on your MCP server.

The install asks for data.records:read, data.records:write, data.recordComments:read, data.recordComments:write, schema.bases:read, schema.bases:write, user.email:read and webhook:manage. To reach another base later, click Reconnect on the Airtable connection page in the superagnt app and grant it.

Things to know

  • Reads return { records, offset }. Page with pageSize (up to 100) and the offset the previous page returned, and narrow with filterByFormula (field names in curly braces, strings in single quotes), view, fields[] and maxRecords.
  • Creates, updates and replaces take up to 10 records a call, as { records: [{ fields }] }, with each record's id on an update or replace. Add performUpsert: { fieldsToMergeOn: [...] } to update the records that match on those fields and create the rest.
  • PATCH changes only the fields you send. PUT replaces the record and clears every field you leave out.
  • A change webhook expires after 7 days unless you refresh it. Airtable pings its notificationUrl when changes are waiting, and you read them with connection_airtable_webhooks_read action list_payloads.
  • By default a superagnt_ agent runs reads without asking, asks before writes, and always asks a person before deleting records, comments or webhooks (Permissions).
